Aisha Selimkhanova: in Levashi District of Dagestan, power agents detain three local residents
In the village of Levashi of the Levashi District of Dagestan, power agents detained three local residents, and their whereabouts are still unknown. This was reported by Aisha Selimkhanova, a member of the Dagestani Regional Public Organization (DRPO) "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy). Officials from the ROVD (Interior Division) state that they do not have any information about the detainees.
According to human rights activists, the detained local residents are Zaur Aliev, born in 1980, Arsen Magomedov, born in 1988, and Ibragim Gatamov, whose date of birth has not been specified yet.
"According to local residents, the men were detained at the same time at about 3:00 p.m. by armed persons in camouflage and masks. Relatives still cannot reveal the whereabouts of the detainees, since the police do not provide them with any information," stated the member of the human rights organization on November 3.
A source of the "Caucasian Knot" at the ROVD suggests that the detentions may be connected with the counterterrorist operation (CTO) carried out in the neighbouring Lak District.
"Local residents fear that the kidnappings of the local residents can end up in the same way like last time, when residents of the village of Khadjalmakhi, kidnapped in this July, were then allegedly killed in a fire fight with power agents in the Lak District. In that case, a CTO regime was also introduced in the neighbouring district," a local resident has said.
