Vladimir Putin signs the law obliging terrorists' relatives to compensate damage

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed the law criminalizing training militants in camps, creation of terrorist organizations and communities. Besides, the law provides for compensation for damages from the actions of terrorists is to be collected from their relatives and close friends.

The law provides for compensation for damage occurred as a result of a terror act, including moral damage, at the expense of a person who committed it and at the expense of relatives and persons in blood relation with terrorist, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

Meanwhile, the document signed by the President provides for the introduction of a legislative mechanism to verify the origin of property belonging to relatives of terrorists. The law states that if there is a suspicion that the property belonging to relatives of terrorists was acquired through terrorist activities, the law enforcement agencies are to verify those facts.

The document also refers to the creation of a collegial body at the federal level to control the authorities in the regions and in the areas with regard to issues of combating terrorism.

Lawyers and members of NGOs, who were earlier questioned by the "Caucasian Knot", have agreed that the law signed by the Russian President violates the principle of the presumption of innocence and can lead to even deeper disruption in the society.
