Armenia wins "Discovery of the Year" Award of "National Geographic Traveler"

On Thursday, in Moscow, an official from the Armenian Embassy in Russia received an award of the Russian version of the magazine "National Geographic Traveler". Armenia has won the contest of the best travel destinations organized by the magazine in the category "Discovery of the Year", the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The award ceremony was held at the "Lotte Hotel Moscow"; in total, awards were given in 13 categories, including such categories as "Best Travel Community" and "Best Cruise Company". Winners were determined through on-line voting on the magazine's website, which involved 65,000 people.

Alexander Zheleznyak, the magazine's editor-in-chief, has announced that in the final, Armenia's rivals in the nomination "Discovery of the Year" were Cambodia and Sri Lanka.

Eduard Djambazyan, the Advisor of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia to Russia, who represented the laureate country, has stated that he is very glad that Armenia has become the "Discovery of the Year" for Russian tourists.
