At trial of Anna Politkovskaya murder case, juror with earlier criminal record dismissed
In Moscow, one of the jurors in the case of the murder of journalist Anna Politkovskaya was disqualified from the jury, since he himself had been earlier sentenced for murder.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, prosecutors have announced that the jury comprises a person who had been sentenced for murder.
After the break, Pavel Melekhin, Judge of the Moscow City Court (MCC), has granted the motion filed by Prosecutors Mariya Semenenko and Boris Loktionov and dismissed the juror from the consideration of the case, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
Let us remind you that earlier, the MCC could form the jury for the Anna Politkovskaya murder case only from the third attempt. The defendants in the case are a businessman from Chechnya, his three nephews, and a former militiaman. On June 20, the Court failed to select jurors, since only 10 applicants agreed to become jurymen. On July 17, the selection was postponed because of the illness of one of the defenders.
