In Azerbaijan, activist of "Musavat" Party detained

On Saturday morning, in the Azerbaijani city of Lankaran, policemen detained Fikret Akhmedov, a member of the audit commission of the "Musavat" Party. Members of the Party state that the police actions are associated with the proceedings in the case against Yadigyar Sadygov, another activist of the "Musavat" Party.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 5, the Lankaran District Court of Azerbaijan held a preparatory court session on the criminal case against Yadigyar Sadygov, Adviser to the Chairman of the "Musavat" Party, who was charged with disorderly conduct. The Court has made a decision to schedule the court hearings on the merits for November 12.

Fikret Akhmedov was summoned to the police station and, according to the "Musavat" Party, was detained without any explanation and charges, the edition "haqqin.az" reports.

Let us remind you that on June 27, Yadigyar Sadygov was detained on the base of a complaint filed by Rashid Kerimov, a resident of Lankaran. Rashid Kerimov claims that Yadigyar Sadygov and two his friends insulted him for no reasons and then beat him and caused him grievous bodily harm.

The Club of Human Rights, the Institute for Peace and Democracy and the International Society for Legal Studies treat Yadigyar Sadygov as a political prisoner.
