Sochi residents complain about absence of heat and hot water in their houses
In Sochi, about 100,000 residents of the Tsentralny District have lived six months without hot water supply. They fear that, after the start of the heating season, they will be left without central heating.
"At our place, the supply of hot water was stopped in June. We appealed to various institutions: to the reception of the Mayor, called to the hotline, the Prosecutor's Office, and the heat supply services... And everywhere, we got the same answer: 'Wait, throughout the city, the heat supply system is being renovated, and it is of your best interest.' However, it is not of our interest to live without water and heat supply," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been told by pensioner Amayak Yazydjyan, who lives in a house in Ostrovsky Street.
Officials from the municipal heat supply services explain the hot water outage by the construction of an Olympic facility. Builders promise that the problem will be resolved by the end of November. Billboards with the information placed at the construction sites indicate the date of October 15 as the deadline for the completion of reconstruction of the heat supply systems. However, in a number of streets, the construction is still underway, and the streets are crossed by trenches.
"We have nothing to work with. We are short of construction materials," one of the workers told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. He found it difficult to indicate the date by which the works would be completed.
