In Chechnya, policeman sentenced for beating local resident
In Grozny, the court has sentenced a staff member of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Chechnya to two years of conditional imprisonment for beating a local resident and unlawful use of his service firearm. Besides, he is deprived of the right to work in law enforcement bodies. This was reported today by an official from the Chechen Prosecutor's Office.
According to the official, on November 8, the court pronounced the verdict to Ilyas Musaev, the former staff member of the patrol-and-post service of the Chechen MIA.
The policeman was accused of committing crimes under Part 1 of Article 115 and Point "a" of Part 1 of Article 213 (intentional infliction of minor bodily harm and disorderly conduct with use of weapon) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
According to the investigators, on June 7, 2013, in the village of Chechen-Aul of the Grozny District, Ilyas Musaev, an employee of the Chechen MIA, came into conflict with a local resident. In the course of the conflict, the policeman beat the man and then fired several shots from his service Makarov pistol under the feet of his abuser. By happy coincidence, no one suffered in the indiscriminate firing opened by the policeman.
