In Dagestani Chontaul village, policemen detain about 80 mosque-goers, local reports
In the village of Chontaul of the Kizilyurt District, about 80 mosque-goers were detained during a special operation conducted by the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). This was reported by a local resident. Officials from the Dagestani MIA have stated that no one was detained and that all persons brought to the OVD (Interior Division) were released after their identification.
The detentions were made earlier, during a Friday prayer. This was reported by a user from the "Caucasian Knot" under the nickname "gamid0011".
According to him, the detainees were released from the OVD after 10:00 p.m. "They were kept at the OVD on the cold parade ground for two hours... and they were not released till 10:00 p.m.," the commentator wrote.
Let us remind you that on the same day, in the Untsukul District, mosque-goers in the village of Vremenny were detained. In total, about 40 persons were detained, and they were brought to the Buynaksk OVD.
The MIA denies the information about mass detentions of mosque-goers of the district mosques of Dagestan.
"This is not a detention, but a usual procedure for identification of an individual. An interagency group was operating. Persons were brought to the district OVDs, policemen checked their documents and immediately released them," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Fatina Ubaidatova, Spokesperson of the Dagestani MIA.
