In Baku, more than 50 persons attend protest action against rise in fuel prices
Today, more than 50 young people gathered in the centre of Baku to attend the silent protest action against rise in fuel prices. The protest action was interrupted 10 minutes after the beginning because of police intervention, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
Let us remind you that on December 7, Ramin Gadjily, the leader of the Azerbaijani European Movement (AED), disseminated a video message calling on the citizens of the country to attend a protest action against rise in fuel prices to be held on December 8. He has called on people to gather at Fountain Square, take clean white sheets and make a silent walk. According to the Ramin Gadjily's plan, white sheets should symbolize peaceful "Gandhian" way of fighting.
"I believe that our protest action has succeeded. Despite the large number of policemen and law enforcers in civilian clothes, the young people showed perseverance and expressed the protest. No matter how many people attended the protest action. This is a message to the government that there are citizens of the country, who are able to raise their voices of protest against the unjust actions of the state," Ramin Gadjily said in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
