"Rosavtodor": entry into Sochi for non-resident vehicles will be restricted from January 7

From January 7 to March 21, 2014, during the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the entry and movement of most motor vehicles in the territory of Sochi will be restricted, the Federal Road Agency (Rosavtodor) has reported. These measures are related to improving of the security regime.

Exceptions will be made for the automobiles registered in Sochi, vehicles of emergency services and non-resident transport having accreditation certificates, says the Agency's official website.

The new rules also impose a temporary restriction on crossing the Russian-Abkhazian border – the permits on letting vehicles across the state border will be made by the operative headquarters responsible for ensuring security during the Olympics.

The amendments to the traffic rules, introduced for the time of the Olympics, prohibit any traffic of private vehicles along the Olympic lanes, marked with special warning signs and road markings, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
