Medal "Hurry to Do Good" given to parents of Makhachkala resident, who died while rescuing two girls in Zvenigorod
On December 9, the House of Russians Abroad named after Solzhenitsyn in Moscow hosted the awarding ceremony of the medal of the Russian Ombudsman "Hurry to Do Good". The 24 -year-old resident of Dagestan Marat Rakhmetov who saved in the suburb of Moscow two drowning schoolgirls but died himself was awarded posthumously.
Let us remind you that Marat Rakhmetov died on June 24 in the town of Zvenigorod, Moscow Region. He drowned in the Moscow River, saving two schoolgirls – the 14-year-old Julia Akinyeva and Repsime Kerogyan. The young man was buried on June 29 in the family cemetery of the Dagestani village of Khapil.
The medal-awarding ceremony was dated to the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The Russian Ombudsman Vladimir Lukin presented the award to Marat Rakhmetov's parents, who travelled to Moscow from Makhachkala for the purpose.
Let us note here that activists of Dagestani public organizations had also offered to nominate Marat Rakhmetov posthumously to the title of "Hero of Russia". According to Magomed Magomedov, the director of the Fund "Pure Heart", a financial help was provided to Rakhmetov's family; and a documentary will be filmed about him.
