Volgograd Communists want to collect signatures for distrust to governor

The faction of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) of the Volgograd Regional Duma intends to start collecting signatures for a distrust resolution to Governor Bozhenov, with the aim to bring it into the agenda of the December 19 session of the regional parliament, said Nikolai Parshin, the faction leader.

"The region has a complete collapse of economy, social sphere and total futility. This is a depressive region that is abandoned by entrepreneurs, where businesses are closed and agriculture is not developing," said Nikolai Parshin.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 31, 2012, the then Russian President Dmitry Medvedev nominated Bozhenov for the governor of the Volgograd Region. On February 2, 2012, the Volgograd Regional Duma approved, at an extraordinary sitting, the nomination. However, then, the CPRF parliamentary faction boycotted the session.

In October Sergey Bozhenov headed the 2013 anti-rating list of governors of Russia's industrial regions, compiled on the basis of a study performed by the Centre for Political Information. By October 1, communists, according to their data, gathered 11,000 signatures in support of the governor's resignation.
