Prosecutor suspected of arms trafficking detained in Dagestan
Magomed Orudjev, the Public Prosecutor of the Sovietskiy District of Makhachkala, was detained today by law enforcers, said a source from the district prosecutor's office.
"He refuses to plead guilty and believes that the criminal case against him was a provocation caused by his principled position in a number of cases against the leadership of the Republic of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Dagestan," said a detainee's colleague on condition of anonymity.
According to his version, the search of the prosecutor's private house in Dobrolyubov Street in Makhachkala was conducted in the absence of the owners.
"No one was at home; his wife felt bad, and went for a few minutes to her neighbour. At that moment about fifteen persons in masks ran into the house. When his wife returned, they showed her the firearms allegedly found in the house," said the above colleague.
In his turn, the lawyer Rasul Kadiev said about the confrontation of the new Republic's Prosecutor Ramazan Shakhnavazov and Magomed Orudjev.
"Orudjev was offered to abandon the post of the Prosecutor of the Sovietskiy District; but he refused. Then, they opened an administrative case against him for an alleged rude attitude to one of the women-attendees. In response, he filed a lawsuit demanding to draw Shakhnavazov to criminal liability for slander. Now, obviously, the opposition has entered a new phase," Rasul Kadiev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
