Court in Dagestan sentences Gasanov, accused of involvement in armed underground, to 3 years and 8 months in colony
The City Court of Buynaksk has sentenced Gadjimurad Gasanov to 3 years and 8 months of imprisonment in a general security colony on charges of involvement in the armed underground and possession of firearms.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Gadjimurad Gasanov disappeared on May 17 in Buynaksk, when armed masked men detained him at the exit from the mosque. At night on May 18 his house was searched. His relatives assert that a pistol was planted during the search. According to the police, a pistol without a serial number and three full magazines to it were found in Gasanov's house. Gasanov was charged with illegal possession of arms and ammunition. Investigators have also found his involvement in the armed underground, said the spokesman of the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan.
The verdict on Gasanov's case was passed on November 28. Since the defence failed to appeal against it within the prescribed time – 10 working days, on December 11 the sentence came into force, the "Caucasian Knot" was told at the court.
