Dagestan: local resident asserts his son was beaten by policemen after detention
The parents of Gamzat Aliev, a resident of the Kizlyar District of Dagestan, who was detained on suspicion of aiding militants, have appealed to the head of the republic with a complaint against the actions of the local policemen, who, according to their version, had beaten the suspect after detention.
According to the father, his son was detained on November 24. At about one o'clock at night, the house of Gamzat Aliev was surrounded by agents of the Kizlyar ROVD (District Interior Division). They all, except one, were in masks.
"They broke into the house, woke up small children, planted firearms and drugs, and took my son away. Gamzat Aliev was arrested and is currently kept at the Khasavyurt SIZO," says the parents' statement addressed to the President of Dagestan.
According to the detainee's father, his son was severely beaten at the Kizlyar ROVD. "I learnt about it, when he was brought to the Khasavyurt SIZO on December 5," said Saipudinov and showed the ‘Caucasian Knot’ correspondent an examination certificate, stating that Gamzat Aliev had lots of visible bodily injuries and two broken ribs.
Rustam Yunusov, an advocate from the Bar "Omarov A. S. and Partners", who entered the case on December 6, said that he had sent complaints against the policemen's actions, who used force against Aliev, to the Prosecutor's Office and the Investigating Committee.
