Court appointed examination of documents in the case of recognizing "Women of the Don" as foreign agent
In the case of recognizing the Union "Women of the Don" as a foreign agent, Judge Natalia Kalashnikova from the Novocherkassk City Court has appointed examination of documents and announced a break until January 12, 2014, said Elena Pershakova, one of the advocates at the trial and the head of the legal division of the "Public Verdict".
She noted that at the December 4 session the court questioned an expert – Viktor Avksentiev, Doctor of Philosophy and Director of the Institute of Socio-Political and Humanities Studies of the Southern Scientific Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences, whose conclusion had formed the basis of the statement of claim, lodged by the City Prosecutor of Novocherkassk, Rostov Region.
Furkat Tishaev, and expert of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", was sceptical about Victor Avksentiev's conclusion.
"We questioned this prosecutor's expert in the courtroom, and completely 'drove him into the corner'," said Tishaev, adding that in the near future a forensic examination will be ready; and should experts objectively look into the matter, he has no doubts that "the common sense will prevail", and the case will be won.
