Tbilisi sets up tents for the homeless because of cold weather
On the outskirts of Tbilisi, Georgian authorities have set up tents for homeless people, where they could take refuge from the cold.
Magda Popiashvili, the head of the press service of the Georgia's Ministry for Regional Development, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that in total they installed 13 tents, which house 104 people. According to her story, most of them come themselves; and some were brought by patrol police officers.
As noted by Ms Popiashvili, the tents are heated by firewood stoves; besides, they have bunk beds.
The above tent residents receive hot meal and, if necessary, medical care, the ministry said. The reason to set up tents in Tbilisi was in increasing frost. According to the meteorological service of the "Caucasian Knot", at night on December 14, Tbilisi will have minus 4 degrees Celsius. Georgian authorities do not rule out the need to set up similar tents in other regions of the country.
