National Post: Canadian intelligence intercepts Doku Umarov's plans to disrupt Sochi Olympics

Doku Umarov, the leader of the Russia's banned organization "Imarat Kavkaz", is planning to commit terror acts during the Winter Olympics in Sochi Russian, the National Post newspaper wrote with reference to its sources in the Canadian intelligence service.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that many experts, including foreign ones, spoke about the danger of possible extremists' terror acts aimed at participants and guests of the 2014 Winter Games. In particular, the bus explosion on October 21 in Volgograd, in their opinion, was a challenge addressed to Russian authorities, who are undertaking a set of measures aimed at ensuring safety of the Olympic Games.

The Canadian newspaper has recalled that for the first time the Olympics faced a terror threat in 1972, when members of the Palestinian terrorist organization "Black September" killed 11 Israeli athletes during the Summer Olympic Games in Munich.

Let us note here that this July the Chechnya's Prosecutor's Office filed a suit with the Lenin District Court of Grozny asking to restrict access to Doku Umarov's video message, in which he called to disrupt the Sochi Olympics. His video message that appeared on the video service of the YouTube in July 2013 also lifted the earlier introduced moratorium on carrying out terror acts in Russia.

In November, the Lenin District Court of Krasnodar found the video performance of Umarov extremist. However, it was not specified what exactly was in that video.
