Istanbul and New York host rallies against detention of Circassian and Abazin activists in Russia

On December 15, in Istanbul and New York, near the buildings of Russian consulates in Turkey and the USA, rallies were held against detentions of Circassian and Abazin activists in Russia. This was reported by organizers of the protest actions and activists.

Let us remind you that on December 13, law enforcers forcibly brought to Krasnodar at least eight Circassian and Abazin activists from Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, and Adygea.

In Turkey, the rally against the detention of Circassian activists was attended by more than 100 persons. This was reported by the website "cherkessia.net" of the international movement "Patriots of Circassia" that organized the rally. Participants of the rally have stated that the incident is a shared responsibility of all the Circassian people.

The final document, which was adopted at the end of the rally, has noted that the detention of Circassian activists is a gross violation of their human rights and democratic freedoms.

In New York, the rally against the detentions of Circassian activists was attended by about 15 persons. Journalist Fatima Tlisova from the Radio Station "Voice of America" posted a video record from the protest action on her page on the "Facebook".

At the rally, Iyad Yugar, the leader of the Circassian cultural centre in New Jersey, has stated that the participants of the protest action demand to release the detained Circassian activists and observe their rights.
