Builders of Olympic facilities in Sochi collect their final salary debts
The Limited Liability Company (LLC) "Okhotsk Construction Company" has finally paid the workers from Tajikistan the remainder of the wage arrears for the construction of Olympic housing in Sochi. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it by Semyon Simonov, the coordinator of the Sochi branch of the network "Migration and Law" of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial".
Let us remind you that this August, 53 workers from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, and Russia, who had built houses for volunteers to work at the Sochi Winter Olympics, appealed to the above branch of the "Migration and Law" with a complaint about the fact that the LLC "Okhotsk Construction Company" failed to pay their wages for three months in a row. The general contractor of the facility is the "RZhDStroy", and the contractor is the State Corporation (SC) "Olimpstroy". In mid-October, the workers were paid the first tranche of the debt – 2.7 million roubles; then, 1 million roubles, while the total debt made 4.8 million roubles.
The LLC bosses paid 1 million roubles to the workers, but deducted 250,000 roubles, saying that the finishing works on the facility were performed with poor quality. The workers agreed to the deduction; they consider the debt fully repaid. At present, almost all the workers of this team, mostly citizens of Tajikistan, have left Sochi and returned home.
According to Semyon Simonov, the wage arrears were paid in full due to the great resonance in mass media and the society.
