Dagestan: detained protesters against construction of water intake are back at large
Fifteen protesters against the construction of a water intake station on the Samur River have been released after serving their administrative arrest, said the on duty unit of the Magaramkent ROVD (District Interior Division). Meanwhile, the village meeting of deputies passed a resolution to suspend the construction of the water intake facility.
The above ROVD has confirmed to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the protesters are back at large after five days of administrative arrest.
Let us add here that on December 17 the village held another protest against the construction of the water intake station, which, according to local residents, was dispersed by the police.
According to the law enforcers, who are on duty in the village, residents will be able to discuss the problem of the water intake station on the Samur River on December 20 at a meeting with the Prime Minister of Dagestan Abdusalam Gamidov.
Meanwhile, on December 17, deputies of the village convened an emergency meeting, where they ruled to suspend the construction of the water intake station. After negotiations with the police, on December 18, protesters came to the construction site and demanded to suspend the works by presenting the decision made by the deputies.
