Seven chief physicians and dozens of medics dismissed after checks of Chechen medical institutions

As reported by the Chechnya's Ministry of Public Health, seven chief physicians of major hospitals and 50 medical workers of medical institutions were dismissed on the results of the checks conducted in November-December.

"The reason for their dismissal was in numerous violations in the institutions they managed," a source from the above Ministry told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to the source, one of the most serious problems in most Chechen medical institutions is the idling of expensive equipment because of lack of qualified medical staff and specialists. "However, some bosses, instead of training their medical staff and sending their physicians and medics to attend training courses, deliberately created a shortage of workplaces in their hospitals," he said.

"In our republic, most of the doctors have no necessary knowledge. Many of them, who now work in hospitals, studied and graduated from medical universities during the warfare. It's also no secret that here diplomas have been and are still bought, including medical ones. Only few doctors have good knowledge in their field; however, they have learned well how to take bribes from patients," says Abdulla T., a resident of Grozny.
