Makhachkala pays tribute to memory of perished journalists

None of the resonance murders of journalists in Dagestan has been resolved. This was stated by relatives and colleagues of the killed journalists at the evening of memory held in Makhachkala.

The evening of memory was held on December 20. During the event, the monitor showed video records about the lives of the killed journalists, and their photos were laid out on an improvised stage, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The evening was opened by Ali Kamalov, Chairman of the Union of Journalists of Dagestan. He has said that during the past 20 years, 16 journalists were killed in the republic, including 11 of them, who perished in 2008-2013, and that none of those crimes has been resolved yet.

At present, the republic faces a situation when the society does not condemn a method of murder as a way to solve all the problems. This was stated by Zubair Zubairuev, First Deputy Minister of Media and Information of the Republic of Dagestan (RD). According to him, the journalistic community fails to present sufficient response to the process.
