Dagestani woman sentenced to two years in prison for keeping "shahid's belt"
The Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan has reported today that Sultanat Krymova, a local resident, was sentenced by the Kaspiisk City Court to two years of colony-settlement for possessing the so-called "suicide bomber's (shahid's) belt".
The woman was charged with illegal circulation of explosive devices (Part 1, Article 222, of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). A homemade "suicide bomber's belt" was found in Krymova's flat within the inquiry into the double terror act committed on May 20 in front of the Federal Service of Court Marshals in Makhachkala, says the website of the Dagestan Prosecutor's Office.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 11, 2013, the Russia's National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) stated that improvised explosion devices (IEDs) with the power of 200 grams of TNT (trotyl) equivalent were found in the houses of Sabina Sheikhmuradova, a resident of Makhachkala, and Sultanat Krymova, a resident of Kaspiisk. According to the NAC, the women were engaged in psychological treatment of young women for their involvement in terrorist activities, and were going to use the "bomber's belts" for terror acts "in the near future."
Sheikhmuradova's mother asserted that the "bomber's belt" was planted on her daughter during a search.
