Dagestani court awards compensation of 250,000 roubles to local for unlawful prosecution
On December 23, the Soviet Court of Makhachkala granted the lawsuit filed by Khabib Budaikhanov, a resident of the city of Khasavyurt, Dagestan, whose verdict was cancelled five years after announcement, and ruled to compensate his moral harm in the amount of 250,000 roubles.
In the lawsuit, filed on November 27, Murad Imanshapiev, the advocate of Khabib Budaikhanov, demanded that the respondents in the case, namely, the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Finance of Dagestan, and the Federal Treasury Department for Dagestan, should pay one million roubles in favour of Khabib Budaikhanov as compensation for his moral sufferings.
The court officials report that on December 23 the ruling was read out to satisfy the claim: "The judge evaluated the moral harm from the unfair verdict with the amount of 250,000 roubles."
The claimant is satisfied with the fact that the court took his side; although, the amount of compensation is disproportionate to the inflicted harm, said Musa Adulkadirov, the current advocate of Khabib Budaikhanov.
