Valery Suchkov: during demolition of unauthorized constructions, Sochi may lose cultural heritage building in "Caucasian Riviera" Sanatorium
Sochi began the demolition of buildings in the territory of the resort complex "Caucasian Riviera". The public is deprived of the possibility to control the process of demolition. Members of public organizations fear that, together with buildings recognized unauthorized by the court's decision, the historical monument - the five-storey building of the resort complex "Caucasian Riviera" built in 1905 - may also be demolished, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
Valery Suchkov, a member of the Public Urban Council of Sochi, believes that the concern about the fate of the five-storey building built in 1905 is well founded.
"Please note that the court's decision is actually permit to demolish the monument of cultural heritage. The court's decision clearly states: to demolish the seven-storey building of unfinished construction with covered area of 595.17 square meters. And this is the very historic building built in 1905. The court's decision does not stipulate that only the top two overbuilt floors are to be demolished, and the department to protect monuments does not take any steps to prevent the demolition," the "Caucasian Knot" was told by Valery Suchkov.
