Rostov Regional Court acquits former deputy mayor of Novocherkassk Zhuravlyov
Today, the Rostov Regional Court has passed an acquittal in the criminal case against Vladislav Zhuravlyov, the former deputy mayor of Novocherkassk, who had been earlier sentenced to probation by the Novocherkassk City Court for intolerant remarks. Mr Zhuravlyov himself told it to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The Novocherkassk City Court found Vladislav Zhuravlyov guilty of inciting hatred or enmity by negative statements about national Diasporas of the Rostov Region that he had made at a Cossack rally. He was sentenced to two years of conditional imprisonment and a ban to hold state positions for three years. Both the defence and the prosecution appealed against the verdict.
Today, Vladislav Zhuravlyov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he was acquitted by the Rostov Regional Court.
"The court has vested me with the right to claim rehabilitation, that is, compensation for material damage and moral harm," said Zhuravlyov.
Let us remind you that some experts believe that Zhuravlyov's case has political nature.
