Azerbaijan protests against Armenia's accession to Customs Union
Azerbaijan has expresses an official protest against Armenia's accession to the Customs Union. As stated today by Ali Gasanov, the head of the department of social and political issues of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, his country would stick to this position until the solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Armenia violates the principles of the international law by accessing the Union prior to withdrawal of its troops from Nagorno-Karabakh, the "Trend" Agency quotes Ali Gasanov as saying.
Armenia should officially recognize its claim for the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, where the armed forces of this country are deployed; and the Customs Union should adopt this position. Otherwise, only after the refusal from the Karabakh territory and the subsequent approval of new borders of Armenia by the UN, this country will be able to join new association, Mr Gasanov believes.
Let us remind you that the "road map" of Armenia's accession to the Customs Union was approved on December 24 in Moscow at the sitting Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
