Physicians report that the health status of Zaur Gasanov, who on December 25 committed an attempt of self-immolation in the centre of Baku to protest against the demolition of his cafe, remains stable, but grave. President Ilham Aliev gave instructions to render assistance in the medical treatment of the disabled veteran and support his family members. The Azerbaijani Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC) undertook all the costs for the medical treatment of Zaur Gasanov and support of his family members.
On December 27, Sattar Mekhbalyev, the ATUC's leader, met a delegation of the public association "Veterans of Karabakh".
"Sattar Mekhbalyev has promised us to render assistance for the medical treatment of the patient, address the issue of repayment of his bank loan, temporary support of his family members, and provide him with a job after he recovers," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Etimad Asadov, the leader of the public organization.
The ATUC has confirmed the information provided by Etimad Asadov.
