States offer to help Russia in securing Sochi Olympics
The US Govt has offered its Russian counterpart a full support in ensuring security of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, said Caitlin Hayden, the press secretary of the US National Security Council.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 29 an explosion occurred at the railway station of Volgograd. According to latest data, the explosion killed 19 people and wounded more than 40. In the morning on December 30, the second blast was triggered in a Volgograd trolleybus. It was reported that the second explosion killed 15 people and wounded more than 20. Both explosions were qualified by investigators as terror acts.
The US National Olympic Committee (NOC) has also issued a statement about its intention to collaborate with both Russian and American authorities to ensure the safety of the athletes at the Sochi Olympics.
Let us note here that the explosion in a bus on October 21 in Volgograd was treated by experts as a terror threat to the Olympics. After that incident, all the socially significant objects in Sochi were taken under special protection.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" quoted Andrei Soldatov and Irina Borogan, the authors of the journalistic investigation, who said that the FSB was going to tap phone calls and Internet correspondence of Olympic guests in Sochi, by extending the use of its systems of operative-search activities (known as SORM).
