Putin to inspect problem Olympic facilities
Russian President Vladimir Putin is in Sochi planning to hold total inspection of readiness of Olympic facilities and infrastructure, said his press secretary Dmitry Peskov, adding that special attention will be given to problem objects.
Lat us remind you that on December 23, Vitaly Mutko, the head of the Ministry of Sports of Russia, said that all sports facilities were ready, and on January 7 would be handed over to the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The minister then added that the Organizing Committee "Sochi-2014" had some problems with completion of a number of accommodation facilities.
Dmitry Peskov has reported that in the coming days President Putin will thoroughly inspect all the objects of the mountain and coastal clusters and review once again the preparation of the opening ceremonies of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which are rehearsed now at the "Fischt" Stadium.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 6, 2013, when in Sochi, Vladimir Putin expressed his dissatisfaction with the construction pace of the ski jumping complex "Russian Hills", which was erected by the OJSC "Krasnaya Polyana"; then, a criminal case under abuse of powers was opened against Magomed Bilalov, a co-owner of the company.
Dmitry Kozak, Russian Vice-Premier, believes that the Kudepsta Thermal and Power Plant (TPP), the construction of which was opposed by Sochi residents, is still one of the problem sites of Olympic construction.
