Khadji: Muslims in Volgograd Region did not complain about pressure after terror acts
Muslims of the Volgograd Region report that there was no aggression against them after the terror acts committed in Volgograd. The Union of Muslims of the Volgograd Region has called young Islamists to take part in patrolling the streets with the aim to maintain the public order, said Abdulla Khadji, the chairman of the Union.
He told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that there were no complaints about any pressure on local Muslims. Earlier, there were rumours that some of them were beaten.
However, Mr Khadji has noted that the Union of Muslims has called women wearing hijabs to refrain, for the time being, from using public transport.
Ilyas Biktimirov, the Head of Regional Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM), said that the mosques of the Volgograd Region are under guard since December 29.
After the December 30 terror act, the above Union of Muslims of the Volgograd Region posted an appeal on its website to donate blood for the victims of the terror acts.
Let us remind you that after the terror act in a Volgograd bus on October 21, 2013, which claimed eight lives and was committed, according to investigators, by a native of Dagestan Naida Asiyalova, incidents with Muslim prayer houses were registered in the region. Thus, on October 22, the house of worship of the Muslim religious community "Mahalla-1350" was attacked; and two Molotov cocktail bottles were thrown inside.
