Nemtsov: Sochi residents will not be able to get permissions to hold rallies during the Olympics
During the upcoming Olympic Games Sochi residents will not be able to get permits from the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) on holding protests in the city, the Russian politician Boris Nemtsov believes. Sexual minorities will not be able to hold their actions, said Nikolai Alekseev, an LGBT activist.
Let us remind you that Vladimir Putin has amended his decree of August 19, 2013, on security measures during the Sochi Olympic and Paralympic Games, which completely forbade any mass actions during the competitions.
"Putin hasn't allowed any actions in Sochi. Read the text of the decree by the link. In order to hold an action, it should be agreed with the Mayor Pakhomov, the MIA and the FSB, which is impossible. Therefore, the enthusiasm concerning the 'Sochi thaw' is premature," Boris Nemtsov wrote on his page in the Facebook.
He did not rule out that LGBT activists could get a permit for a rally; however, ordinary citizens, who have much more pressing problems, will never get a chance.
In his turn, Nikolai Alekseev, an LGBT activist, believes that sexual minorities will not be able to hold their actions during the Olympics.
Officials and security agents may deliberately organize protests during the Olympics, suggested the blogger and journalist Andrei Malgin.
Meanwhile, Thomas Bach, the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has endorsed the decision to create a venue for social events in Sochi.
