Sochi launches Olympic Media Centre
Sochi has opened the main Olympic Media Centre that can accommodate more than 6500 journalists. This was reported by the 2014 Olympics organizing committee.
The Media Centre is located not far from the Olympic Park, in the coastal cluster. The area of the facility is more than 158,000 square meters.
Starting from January 23, the Media Centre will work around the clock. On January 24, the Media Centre "Gorki", located in the mountainous cluster, is to be opened.
In October 2013, a scandal arose around the construction of the main Media Centre of the Olympic Games. Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that "KrilakSpetsstroy" contracting company failed to pay wages on time for September 2013 to 100 workers that worked on the construction of the Olympic Media Centre. This was claimed by the builders. On October 17, Roman Kuznetsov, a member of one of the teams working at the construction site, sewed his mouth to protest against non-payment of wages by the employer. On October 20, the contracting company began to pay wages to the workers from the Roman Kuznetsov's team. Later, the Prosecutor's Office found several violations in the work of the contractor.
