Armenia: Harutyunyan, detained at "Million Mask March" transferred from prison to hospital
Shant Harutyunyan, the leader of the "Tsegakron" Party, who was detained during the "Million Mask March" on November 5, 2013, in Yerevan, and who later went on hunger strike, was taken from his SIZO (pre-trial prison) to the prison hospital, said his wife Ruzanna Badalyan.
Shant Harutyunyan announced his hunger strike on December 25, 2013, because he was denied to see his relatives. On January 6, he was visited by Arthur Sakunts, the head of the Vanadzor office of the Helsinki Citizens' Assembly, who reported that Harutyunyan was exhausted and walked with difficulty.
Ruzanna Badalyan has explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that her husband's poor health condition caused his transfer to the hospital.
Let us remind you that Harutyunyan's hunger strike was supported by two other detained protesters Liparit Petrosyan and Vage Mkrtchyan. They also have associated health problems.
The police had motivated the detentions of protesters at the "Million Mask March" by the fact that the marchers provoked clashes with policemen.
