Sochi tightens security from January 7
Starting from tomorrow, January 7, special measures are introduced in Sochi to ensure security at Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. Restrictions will be applied both to visitors and residents of the city.
Security Operation Centre of Olympic and Paralympic Games in Sochi has established controlled and forbidden zones in the Olympic area to be operated under the special access rules. Automobile, aircraft and marine access will be also restricted during the Olympics, RIA Novosti reports.
Even local drivers will be barred from approaching Olympic area without special permit.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that starting from December, Sochi has enhanced measures to observe the passport regime, and policemen go around households. However, many bloggers believe that the police measure do not increase the safety of residents and guests of the resort city. According to Semyon Simonov, the coordinator of the reception of the network "Migration and Law" in Sochi, law enforcers themselves violate the rights and freedoms of citizens.
