Stavropol Territory: authorities enhance security measures
In the Stavropol Territory, military men from stationed army units are brought in to protect public order. All vehicles and people entering the borders of the region are subjected to inspection.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 8 and 9, in the Stavropol Territory, four cars with dead bodies were found. Today, officials from the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) have specified that in total, six persons were found killed in the cars. Three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were planted near the cars. One of the IEDs detonated when investigators from the investigating team arrived at the place.
Forces and means of the 49th combined-arms army around the entire Stavropol Territory are in the higher state of readiness and will be quickly involved upon basic necessities. This was reported by Major General Sergey Sevryukov, Army Commander, at the meeting on security issues with the head of the Stavropol Territory held on January 9 in Pyatigorsk.
On air of the "Russia-24" TV Channel, Vladimir Vladimirov, Acting Governor of the Stavropol Territory, has reported that law enforcers inspect all vehicles entering the Stavropol Territory. Vladimir Vladimirov has also noted the enhanced inspection at the territories of airports, railway stations, and stations.
Sources from the investigating authorities report that three residents of Kabardino-Balkaria 33-year-old Anzor Margushev, 25-year-old Vadim Shogenov, and 24-year-old Arthur Margushev are suspected of the murders of six persons in the Stavropol Territory.
Investigators believe the criminals killed drivers to use the scene as a later trap for law enforcers. The investigators suggest the attackers may be members of Zolskoe Jamaat.
