Japanese Prime Minister intends to visit closing ceremony of Sochi Olympic Games
Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, has scheduled for February 22 a visit to the closing ceremony of the Sochi Winter Olympic Games. This was reported by the Japanese news agency "Kyodo". Earlier, media have reported that Shinzo Abe will not be able to visit Sochi because of involvement in the activities of the national parliament.
During his visit, the Prime Minister of Japan also expects to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who in October 2013 personally invited Shinzo Abe to visit the Olympic Sochi.
The Japanese Prime Minister is not able to attend the opening ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games on February 7. He is to hold a parliamentary session at that time, the "Interfax" reports.
The ITAR-TASS reports that in December, Shinzo Abe has announced his desire to visit Sochi during the Olympic Games to get acquainted with the Russian experience, since Tokyo is to become the capital of the Summer Olympic Games in 2020.
Let us remind you that earlier, Barack Obama refused to visit Sochi Olympics and referred to the "busy schedule". The same reason was mentioned by Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and the Polish leaders never fit Sochi Olympic Games into their plans. Meanwhile, their official agents never mentioned boycotting the Olympic Games.
