Marina Abramkina reports great cuts in funding Russian population of Dagestan
The Government of Dagestan has developed a programme aimed to support the Russian population of Dagestan in 2014-2017; however, because of this year's budget cuts, the programme will get only minimal funding. This was reported by Marina Abramkina, the acting head of the Tarumovka District of Dagestan.
The programme "Support to Current and Returning Russians in the Republic of Dagestan in 2014-2017" plans activities for the amount of about 353 million roubles. The prescribed set of measures should improve social well-being of the Russian population in Dagestan. This has been explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Zikrula Ilyasov, First Deputy Minister of National Policy of Dagestan.
"We are talking about the economy and the social sphere: construction of housing, job creation, land allocation, increase of number of Russians in the population engaged in business, expansion of opportunities for fishing, revival of pond fish, and many other things," the First Deputy Minister has stated.
According to Marina Abramkina, the acting head of the Tarumovka District of Dagestan, recently, the outflow of the Russian population from Dagestan has decreased. The official has mentioned that migration is primary caused by economic, and not national, reasons.
According to the official, to return Russian population, Dagestan needs to revive the economy of its even lands, which has considerable economic potential. In particular, Dagestan needs to develop vegetable and grain farming and livestock breeding.
