Circassian activists claim being not involved in terrorist threats in connection with Olympic Games
Members of Circassian national organizations stand for peaceful dialogue with the authorities and reject criminal activities, including terrorism and extremism. This is announced by the statement made by the group of Circassian activists in connection with the increase of terrorist threats in the Caucasus on the eve of the Olympic Games in Sochi.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 8, in the Stavropol Territory, law enforcers found four VAZ cars with six dead bodies. The law enforcers associate the murders committed in the Stavropol Territory with the militants' attempts to disrupt the Olympic Games in Sochi.
According to the calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot", during the "pre-Olympic" year, 32 bombing were committed in the territory of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) and the Southern Federal District (SFD).
Recently, law enforcers expect possible increase of terrorist threats associated with the upcoming 2014 Sochi Olympic Games. This was reported by the statement issued on behalf of by Abubekir Murzakan, Chairman of the public movement "Adyge Khekuzh-Circassia", and several other Circassian activists.
The authors of the statement emphasize that they are "fighting for the right to unity, the preservation and development of the Circassian people exclusively within the legal frame, under the laws of countries where Circassians live and under the international law."
Ibragim Yaganov, Chairman of the public movement "Khase" of Kabardino-Balkaria, notes that Circassian activists are periodically accused of extremism and separatism.
