In Volgograd, car drivers protest against poor road conditions
In Volgograd, three car drivers held an action to protest against the poor condition of the road in Dorozhnikov Lane. The passing-by drivers have confirmed the current state of the road may result in road traffic accidents.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in June 2013, blogger Alexei Ulyanov, an assistant to the Volgograd Mayor, filed the claims against the Department of Municipal Facilities demanding to oblige the authorities to repair roads, including the road in Dorozhnikov Lane. The Central District Court has obliged the Volgograd administration to repair roads; however, later, the Regional Court has cancelled the decision.
Today, car drivers Denis Grigoriev, Yakov Cherkashin, and Alexei Kovalenko took fishing rods and came to Dorozhnikov Lane, where a large puddle was formed on the road, and staged an improvised performance. The sense of the protest action was to show that the situation with the roads in Volgograd is as absurd as fishing in a puddle. This was explained by Denis Grigoriev, a participant of the protest action.
Alexei Kovalenko, another protester, has noted that the situation is aggravated by the fact that car drivers do not always dare speak openly about their problems.
