Gadjiev: death of woman in Dagestan was caused by unlawful use of firearms by policemen
In Dagestan, a criminal case was opened on the fact of death of a woman as a result of policemen's use of their firearms in pursuit of a car, the Investigating Department for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has reported. In the opinion of Salikh Gadjiev, the Deputy Chairman of the Independent Trade Union of Interior Workers and Prosecutors of Dagestan, the policemen have wrongfully used their firearms.
Let us remind you that on January 14, on the motor road running to Kizilyurt, policemen stopped a VAZ car. The driver, whose documents they wanted to check, tried to escape. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), policemen used their firearms to prevent the escape. As a result, the woman who was in the car was wounded and died.
"If there are armed persons in a car, reasonably suspected of committing a crime, which were or are rendering armed resistance and shooting, only then policemen can shoot back. This is what the Law 'On Police' is saying," Salikh Gadjiev told the correspondent "Caucasian Knot".
He added that in case of using their firearms, policemen put other passengers and cars that are passing by under mortal risk. According to his story, such tragic incidents are a consequence of policemen's incompetence, and first of all – of their bosses.
