Moscow Mayoralty has agreed to route of march in memory of lawyer Markelov

The march in memory of lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova, scheduled for January 19, has been sanctioned by the Moscow Mayoralty, said Lev Ponomaryov, one of the organizers of the march and the leader of the movement "For Human Rights". According to his story, the city authorities agreed on the route proposed in the application, provided the transition from one boulevard to another will take place without using the symbols.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a notification had been submitted to the Moscow Mayoralty about the march in memory of lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova on January 19 along the Tverskoy, Nikitsky and Gogolevsky Boulevards up to the "Kropotkinskaya" Metro Station. The organizers insist on the route from Novopushkinsky Mini-Park to the "Kropotkinskaya" with laying flowers in Prechistenka Street. As stated by Alexei Mayorov, the head of the Department for Regional Security of the Moscow Mayoralty the authorities were ready to sanction the march along Gogolevsky Boulevard.

Lev Ponomaryov is sure that the decision to sanction the march was taken after the intervention of Mikhail Fedotov, the Chairman of the Human Rights Council, and the Ombudsman Vladimir Lukin, since initially the authorities had refused to agree to the route applied for in the initial application.

The Mayoralty argued that for the march along all the three boulevards will demand to block Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street, which will creating inconveniences to motorists and require increased safety measures.

Let us remind you that after the murder of Stanislav Markelov and Anastasia Baburova many cities of Russia use January 19 to hold antifascist actions.
