Chinese and Norwegian leaders announce their coming to Sochi Olympic Games
Chinese President Xi Jinping will come to the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. This was announced today by the Chinese Foreign Ministry. The message about the visit of the leader of China was published on the official website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, and it was immediately confirmed by Qin Gang, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson.
On January 20, the official delegation of Norway was also determined. According to Børge Brende, Norwegian Foreign Minister, the delegation will be headed by King Harald V and Prime Minister Erna Solberg.
"Norway will be presented by a very large delegation, the third largest one. I think we will witness the biggest sporting events," the "Interfax" quotes Mr Børge Brende as saying at his meeting with Sergey Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister.
Let us remind you that earlier, members of the Norwegian Labour Party criticized the decision of the Prime Minister Erna Solberg to go to Sochi. They have expressed the opinion that Russia violates the rights of homosexuals.
Gard Realf Nielsen, one of the local leaders, declared: "The Olympic Games represent a political event, despite the fact that the International Olympic Committee is of the opposite point of view. Embellished facade hides the country that does not recognize human rights and freedom of speech," the "Russian portal in Norway" quoted on January 5 Gard Realf Nielsen as saying.
