In Krasnodar Territory, consideration of ecologist Evgeny Vitishko's appeal to change sentence is scheduled for February 22
The court has scheduled for February 22 the consideration of the appeal filed by the defence of ecologist Evgeny Vitishko, who was sentenced in the case of "Krasnodar Territory Governor Tkachov's summer cottage" and whose conditional sentence was changed by the court to the real imprisonment.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Evgeny Vitishko, an activist of the "Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus", and his colleague Suren Gazaryan were sentenced to three years of conditional imprisonment on charges of inflicting damage to the fence enclosing the area of the so-called "Alexander Tkachov's summer cottages". However, on December 20, the court changed the sentence to Evgeny Vitishko to the real imprisonment.
In his appeal, advocate Alexander Popkov insists on cancelling the decision pronounced by the Tuapse Court and upholding the former conditional sentence. The appeal was filed to the court of appeal within the statutory period and was to be considered within a month. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by the advocate.
The ecologist himself has written in "Twitter" that he is already aware of the date of the court session. According to Evgeny Vitishko, he has learned about the appointment of the date for consideration of the appeal from the website of the regional court, though till present, he and his defence received no notifications.
