Taganrog journalist states he was detained because of Olympic Torch Relay
In the city of Taganrog, Rostov Region, policemen detained Ivan Sedush, a local TV reporter, and kept him for four hours. The detainee has associated it with the Olympic Torch Relay held in Rostov-on-Don; in their turn, the police argue that he was not detained, but just invited for a talk.
Ivan Sedush told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he was brought by policemen to Police Station No. 3 of Taganrog, where he was kept for about four hours and then released at about 7:00 p.m.
"At the Station, the head of the criminal search talked to me, asking about my grades at school, and who I communicate or run correspondence with. I was also asked whether I was going to go anywhere today; then, I understood that they feared that I would go to Rostov to the Torch Relay, although I was not going to do it," said Ivan Sedush.
According to his story, he wrote an application to the prosecutor's office about his illegal detention. "They took away my passport, saying that they had not detained me – just invited for a talk; at the same time they wouldn't let me out, when I wanted to leave," said the journalist.
