Rostov-on-Don: number of detained opponents of Olympiad-2014 reaches four
Now, there are already four activists who criticized the Olympic Games in Sochi and were detained for that in Rostov-on-Don. Eduard Nikolaev, a member of the unregistered "December 5 Party", is the fourth one. On January 22, this was reported by Alyona Rudsko, the coordinator of the "Citizen Observer" Project for the Rostov Region.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 18 in Rostov-on-Don Pavel Nagibin, an activist of "The Other Russia", and Arkady Zykov, an activist of the "Russian Resistance", were arrested for 15 days each. Later, Vladislav Ryazantsev, the coordinator of the "Left-Wing Front" for the Rostov Region, was put into custody for the same term. All the arrests, as suggested their fellow activists, had to do with the upcoming Olympic Torch Relay to be held in the city.
Prior to his detention, in the afternoon on January 22, Eduard Nikolaev unfolded a banner with the text, condemning the detention of the three above oppositionists, at the moment when torchbearers were running along Nagibin Avenue. However, a man standing nearby took away the poster and tore it into pieces; and people in civilian clothes tried to detain Nikolaev, but he managed to escape, the Rostov-based information resource "161.ru" has reported. Nikolayev was detained later in his own apartment.
