Picketers for children rights in Volgograd demand from authorities to reduce state costs
On January 22, five people went out to hold a picket for the rights of children, which was held in front of the building of the Central Bank in Volgograd. They demanded from state bureaucrats to cut their expenses and direct the saved money to treat sick children.
The action was organized by the social movement "Volgograd Parents for Children's Rights".
The picketers held posters reading: "Help raise money for treatment!", "They fail to treat us in Volgograd!" "Lisa Romashkina, 5 years old, cerebral palsy: she needs 500,000 roubles for treatment" and "Where are our rehabilitation centres?" and others.
"We are sick and tired of state officials' wastes on corporate parties and other festivities, while there's no real help to children with disabilities," said Olga Cheburakova, an activist of the "Volgograd Parents for Children's Rights".
According to her story, "children with disabilities, who should receive free medication, have to raise money on social networks."
Let us remind you that on September 12, 38 mothers of children with disabilities began their alternate or a "blanket" hunger strike, demanding to open a rehabilitation centre in the region. On September 30, they stopped the hunger strike, after the All-Russian Popular Front (ARPF) promised to satisfy the protesters' demands.
