Armenia sets up fund to help political prisoners' families

Armenia has established the charitable fund "Shant and Freedom" to provide assistance to family members of political prisoners. The Foundation has been already registered by state. This was reported on January 23 at the press conference by the trustees of the Foundation.

The established charitable Foundation will operate in the entire territory of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, and, later, offices in different countries will be opened. This was reported by Felix Airapetyan, the founder of the charitable fund "Shant and Freedom".

He has emphasized that the foundation focuses on legal, medical, social and charitable spheres. According to Felix Airapetyan, the charitable activities will be as transparent as possible, and the public will periodically receive reports on the Foundation's activities.

"Today, there are 15 political prisoners in Armenia: Shant Arutyunyan with 13 protesters, who were arrested together with him on November 5, and Colonel Vladimir Avetisyan. And, according to our information, there are 21 children left without paternal support. Our goal is provide assistance to political prisoners and to their family members," Felix Airapetyan has noted.
