Policemen prohibit Salafis to leave Buynaksk, local residents report
Buynaksk policemen warn members of the Salafi community that from February 1 and till the end of the Olympic Games in Sochi, they should not leave the town. There is no any official confirmation of the introduction of restrictions on the movement.
According to the local residents, starting from January 20, the policemen began to go around households of member of the Salafi community.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Aminat M., a resident of Buynaksk, on January 20, she was visited by a district police inspector. He told her that she was not allowed to travel outside the town from February 1 till the end of the Olympic Games in Sochi.
Burliyat Bagavutdinova, one more local resident, was told by a district police inspector that he would be visiting her "three times a week" to check if she had not left the town. "If he suddenly does not find me or if I leave the town without notifying him, I would be put on the wanted list. He said so," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Burliyat Bagavutdinova.
According to the woman, law enforcers visited other members of the Salafi community of the town with the similar statements.
